Folk Art Museum - Deryneia
Deryneia Folk Art Museum is housed in an old traditional house at 2 Demetris Lipertis street and it is a donation by Mr. Varnavas and Mrs. Margarita Hadjiliasi in memory of their three children who died at an early age. The building was declared a scheduled building and was renovated by the Municipality under the supervision of the Town Planning and Housing Department.
The indoor and outdoor spaces of the Folk Art Museum, as well as the exhibition of the different household items and farming tools were arranged in collaboration with the Cyprus Handicraft Service and showing how functional the Cypriot traditional house could be.
Apart from the household equipment of a traditional Cypriot house, the Folk Art Museum also exhibits the farming tools used by a traditional rural family in the region.
All items have been kindly offered for free by the people of Deryneia and other neighboring areas.
The functioning of the Folk Art Museum is alive, thanks to the presence of Mrs. Margarita and Mr. Varnavas Hadjiliassis.
In the foreyard of the Museum, there is an oven, which Mrs Margarita Hadjiliassis often uses to bake bread and rolls.
